Lovely Little Sascha

For my birthday I received a bit of money and I wanted to do something useful and lasting with it.  When I give money, I hope that the person who receives it spends it on something he or she really wants but would not buy for himself/herself.  A treat!  A little luxury!  A bit of decadence!  So, that's what I try to do.  

This year, I took my newfound wealth and went to Etsy!  I browsed and browsed.  There are so many wonderful artisans creating beautiful treasures.  After much deliberation, I decided on an oil portrait of my son, Sascha.  This time that I have with them at home, this special, precious, fleeting time is such a gift in itself and two-and-a-half is such a beautiful age.  I just want to savour it forever and ever!

I sent Evelyn at Recircles9 a few photos of my beautiful little boy and she created a lovely portrait.  I am so pleased with the result!  It did turn out well!

 

 

Matchy matchy!

So, for my birthday, I made myself a skirt.  I couldn't find what I was looking for in the shops for a price I was willing to pay and any excuse to sew is a good excuse, isn't it?  Once the machine was whirring away, I decided that I couldn't possibly stop with just me.  Ned needed a new party outfit, too!

The colour doesn't look quite the same in these photos, but you get the idea.  Isn't the little bird darling?!

The cardi and shirt were already in her closet, but I think they match so nicely.

It's such a bad photo - it was last minute as I was racing out the door! But check out this fabulous coat.

It was my husband's mothers coat.  She knows i've got an eye for vintage finds and this little number was at the back of her closet for decades.  Literally!  It's 40 years old, but she is so meticulous that it is in mint condition.  It fits like a glove and the rich plum colour is gorgeous.  I have to get a decent photo for you!  I think it is so much fun that my husband remembers his mum wearing it when he was little and so will our kids.  Love that!
